Genetically modified organisms are created from the use of one form of biotechnology. Biotechnology is the use of biology with technology in order to harnesses cellular and biomolecular processes to develop technologies and products that help improve our lives and the health of our planet. There are many companies that develop genetecially modified seeds. a large portion of these companies that develop genetically modified seeds are manufacturing companies that develop chemicals and pharmaceuticals. The top companies that develop these seeds are BASF, Bayer, Dupont,Dow Chemical Company, Monsanto, and Syngenta. These companies are known as the "Big 6" in the worlds GMO, pesticide, and biotechnology industries.
